Starting in 2017, our annual show will always be the fourth weekend in June (June 23, 24, & 25, 2017).

The Chapter is in need of an enclosed trailer (around a 6×10) for hauling club items to the shows we attend.  If you know of someone who has one to sell at a reasonable price or by chance would donate it to the club, contact Tinker Moats at 540-246-5726.

If you would like to bring a display, please contact Jennifer Puffenbarger (540-820-9763).  It should be a display that you don’t mind the kids touching or sitting on. They are hoping we will have several tractors there for display along with anything else members would like to bring.

August Club Meeting Minutes

 

IHC Meeting, August 9, 2015

 

  • The meeting was called to order by Tinker Moats.  The Board had decided it was not necessary to read the minutes at each meeting. Cynthia provided handouts for members to read.  The main points for the June Meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes. It was seconded and approved.
  • The club will be represented at Sommerset, Sept. 11-13, 2015 and Rockville, Sept. 18-20, 2015.
  • There was a good turnout at Berryville.  The club received applications for new members.
  • For the Rockville Show if you bring a tractor you will receive two or three passes for the Show.
  • The Fairgrounds is booked through 2020 for our Show.  The Show in 2016 will be July 8-10, 2016 and the Shows after that will be the fourth weekend in June.
  • Tyrone said that October 10, 2015 will be good for our fundraiser.  We will do BBQ sandwiches again.  The sandwiches will be $3.00.  The sandwiches will be presold.  Jennifer will let everyone know the date she needs the total number of the sandwiches. Tyrone will need help to cook the meat on October 9th.  The club will meet at Cross Keys Worship Center October 10th at 8:30 A.M. to make the sandwiches.  
  • The National Auction is October 30-31, 2015.  The Maryland Club is having the Auction.  Our Club will take a table and help with the Auction.
  • Raymond Grogg asked if our club would be interested in participating in The Creative Work Farm.  The event is for children to learn about farming and farm equipment.  The event is on October 11, 2015 from 12:00 to 5:00.  The Farm is on Purple Cow Road.  Members could bring tractors that the children could climb on and sit on.  A motion was made to have our October Meeting at this event.  It was seconded and approved.
  • Tinker said he knew a caterer that would possibly be available for our Show.  Tinker was asked to follow up on this.  
  • Tinker said he had an individual that would set up activities for kids in a designated area for our Show.  There would be a designated entrance and exit.  A motion was made to follow through with this idea.  It was seconded and approved.
  • Having more help with our auction was discussed.  There will be more discussion at a later date.
  • As there was no other business, a motion was made to adjourn.  It was seconded and approved.

September 18-20, 2015: Field Day of the Past (Rockville, VA) hosted by Rockville-Centerville Steam & Gas Historical Association.  Exhibitors will receive passes for the show. They do want us to preregister if we exhibit so they have a rough idea of how much space to set aside for us to setup in.  If you are able to exhibit or help at the table, please contact Jennifer Puffenbarger (540-820-9763).  A printable registration form is linked here clicking here. As a chapter/national member, you have insurance coverage.  I will send them a copy of our certificate of insurance. Hotels are listed on their website www.fielddayofthepast.net under “PLAN YOUR TRIP”.   The organizer recommends The Comfort Suites Innsbrook, 4051 Innslake Dr., Glen Allen, Va.  Phone: 804-217-9200.  Tell them you are coming to Field Day, and how many you have in your group, and they will give you a special rate.

October 3, 2015First Annual Plow Day.  Location – Airey Farm; 9094 Waggy’s Creek Road; Dayton, VA  22821.  Begins at 9:00 a.m.  More details to follow.

October 10, 2015:  Pork Tenderloin Sandwich Pre-Sale Fundraiser.  Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches $3.00 each. Call Jennifer, 540-820-9763, by October 5 with presale totals and/or if you can help make sandwiches. Volunteers to make sandwiches should arrive at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Cross Keys Worship Center.  Pick up sandwiches at the Cross Keys Worship Center on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Pre-sale sign up sheet is available here available by clicking here.

At the shelter, there will be a board meeting at 2:00 p.m. before the regular meeting and picnic.

Club Meeting Minutes: April 21, 2015

Provided by Cynthia Shaver:

  • The meeting was called to order by Tinker Moats.
  • The minutes from the February meeting were read and approved.
  • The Board Meeting Minutes from February and March were read.
  • The Treasurer’s Report was given by Jennifer Puffenbarger. The Report was approved as read.
  • There was no old business.
  • The 2015 Annual Show was discussed.  It was noted that a forklift and a rollback would be available at the show to unload tractors and equipment.  The Committee Reports were given.
  • Advertising:  Ads will be placed in the local papers.  The large ad will run on Friday the week before the show inside and a back page ad will run on Friday and Saturday the week of the show.  It was also suggested advertising on the Community Calendar on the radio and possibly on Channel 29.
  • Setup:  Bill Shaver and Berlin Zirk would be available at the start of the Show for setup of tractors and equipment.  Members may setup Thursday evening, June 18th after 5:00 P.M..
  • Auction:  Some auction items were on display at the meeting.  Winona asked members if they knew either businesses or people that might donate items for the auction.  If anyone had any information they could contact her and she would follow through with contacting them.  Tinker told members that Steiner Tractors was giving a lot of hats, t-shirts, and other items as donations to our club. He also noted that vendors were asked to either give a monetary donation or an item for the auction.
  • Activities:  Bob Menifee is still working on games.  Jerry McDonald will run the square baler.  A tractor with the belt pulley and belt would be provided.  It was noted that we would need wire for the baler.  If anyone has information about wire please contact one of the Board Members or Jerry McDonald.
  • Relay for Life:  Winona gave the report for Becky Seal.  A printout was read and a copy was given to all the members at the meeting. A Schedule of Events was on the printout.
  • Fundraiser:  The pork sandwiches were a success. There was a very good turnout for                                   making the sandwiches.  The club made $900.00 on the event
  • Members of the Board have been talking to the Presidents of the Maryland, Pennsylvania,North Carolina, and Tennessee Clubs about how to grow membership. Jennifer said she had been receiving some applications on the web site.
  • New Business:  Jerry McCurdy passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015.  There is no other information available at this time.
  • Steve Kegley said we would be able to rent tables from the Fairgrounds for our Show. The cost would be $9.00 per table for the three days. The discussion was that we would need 30 tables. A motion was made to rent the tables.  It was seconded and approved.
  • Jennifer reminded members that the dues were due by the end of May.  She would send out reminders to members.
  • Tinker invited all members to attend the next two Board Meetings if they wanted to–April 16th at the Cross Keys Worship Center at 6.30 P.M. and May 21st at the Fairgrounds at 6:30 P.M..
  • As there was no other business, a motion was made to adjourn .  It was seconded and approved.
